Festival Ballet’s production of The Houston Children’s Nutcracker returns to the stage in December for its ninth annual performance at San Jacinto College’s Fine Arts Center, located at 13735 Beamer Road. Performances include evening and matinee shows and begin Saturday, Dec. 17.

The production features E.T.A. Hoffman’s story, Tchaikovsky’s score, professional guest artists, members of Festival Ballet and young dancers from across the Greater Houston area, including several from the Clear Lake-Bay area. “It’s a wonderful story that never grows old, "artistic director Deborah Rayburn said. “A beloved holiday tradition that touches the hearts of young and old alike.”

The Houston Children’s Nutcracker provides a performance opportunity for aspiring young dancers to appear on a professional stage with professional costumes, lighting and international guest artists.

Guests include Robert Underwood, former principal dancer for the American Ballet Theater and Boston Ballet, as the Sugar Cavalier and Tonya Whitmore as the SugarPlum Fairy.

Anyone wishing to be a sponsor of the 2005 Houston Children’s Nutcracker may give a tax deductible donation to the 501C-3 youth dance company.
